The story behind this site
I first met Butch and Laura Hall in 1999 at an Arts Festival in Lubbock, TX where I was attending what would be my first year of a six year graduate school journey to eventually become the geropsychologist that I have become today. At that arts festival, I met Butch and Laura and finally felt that I had found a Native Flute that I could put my confidence in. It was the journey with that very flute and more to come my way that helped to ground me mentally and artistically throughout my graduate school career. Practicing with Butch Hall flutes led to performing at multiple venues, to having a complicated musical composition written for me by a distinguished professor and eventually conducting a world premiere of that piece in New York City. Many more adventures ensued over the course of the 27 years that I have known Butch and Laura. Many more opportunities to grow and share in the Native Flute communities as well.
The Butch Hall Flutes Circle website is my venture with the collaboration of Butch and Laura and Jett to continue the tremendous impact that Butch and Laura have had on past, present, and on those in the future with creating and sharing their music on the Native American Style Flute.
This website contains and will continue to add history, future events, and even shopping opportunities to those who admire Butch Hall Flutes the way that I do. Current production flutes will be made available just as they are on the legacy Butch Hall Flutes website: www.butchhallflutes.com. I have added my own special gift to all of you though by offering flutes for sale that were stored on location by Butch and Laura that date back 10, 20, and even 30 years ago. I fondly call these flutes that I am selling for Butch and Laura the Legacy Flutes. As with wine, these flutes age and gain character, warmth, and presence. Flutes that you just can't acquire today will be available over time on the Butch Hall Flutes Circle website. The prices of these Legacy Flutes are representative of their historical, artistic, and rarity within the Native American flute community. Once these flutes are sold, well they are not to be seen again I guess unless you meet the ones with them at local flute circle, conventions, or retreats. I have duplicates of some flutes and one of a kinds with other flute offerings. All these flutes have been played by me before being offered for sale to be sure they provide you the rich, concert tuned, and dynamic voice the flute community expects from a Butch Hall flute.
So, come visit the Butch Hall Flutes Circle website often. Our goal is to enrich past, current and future Native American flute players with the joy of playing a Butch Hall flute.
